New Executive Director Appointed

Mount Saint Vincent, a leading treatment provider for children with severe emotional and behavioral challenges due to trauma, mental illness, abuse or neglect, announced that Kirk Ward, LCSW, was named the agency’s executive director. He had been serving as the interim executive director since late August of 2015.

Ward has worked in numerous capacities at Mount Saint Vincent since 1984. In 1999, he was named clinical director. He has more than 30 years of experience working with children who have experienced physical abuse, sexual abuse, or chronic neglect. As a child trauma expert, he is frequently asked to speak on the subject. Ward also performs clinical assessments of children throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

As the executive director, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operations of Mount Saint Vincent, including the residential services, school program, day treatment services, and behavioral health programs. He is responsible for care and utilization management, provider relations, training and education, compliance, and quality improvement to improve clinical outcomes.

Ward earned his master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver, and completed undergraduate degrees in psychology and history from the University of Colorado. He was named a CTA Fellow by The ChildTrauma Academy of Houston, Texas, which means he joins the ranks of 30 people around the world who are specialists in the treatment of traumatized children.
